Lyncaei is the unique cohort of scientifically driven and pedagogically interested professionals seeking to find collaborative, positive, and creative expressions of the created order to articulate a new and robust interchange between modern natural science and other fields of knowledge.

Emily Buchanan

Emily Buchanan is a senior at the University of Texas at Dallas studying chemistry and biology. After she graduates, she plans to pursue an M.D. and continue developing MRI technologies as a medical researcher. When she is not in the classroom or the lab, Emily enjoys swimming, painting, spending time with her three sisters, kayaking, and trying out new recipes!

Kerry Magruder

As Curator of the History of Science Collections, his work focuses on expanding the holdings of rare materials to build on current strengths and to address emerging areas of research interest. Other research and creative activities engage the history of geology, science and religion, visual representation, and science education. Current projects include a new History of Geology archive, a Thomas F. Torrance Oral History project and other endeavors related to Torrance, the skytonight.org digital project, and the lynx-open-ed.org site for educational resources.

Guido Verbeck

Dr. Verbeck's research interests lie in novel instrument development in mass spectrometry and ion optical devices in the areas of preparative mass spectrometry, miniaturization, and sample collection. His group utilizes these technologies to advance the fields of catalysis, new materials, and biochemistry.

 

JENNIFER ORAMOUS, PhD

Dr. Jennifer Oramous is an experienced educator with a passion for science education. She studied Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Science Education at the University of Arkansas. With over 17 years of teaching experience, Dr. Oramous holds two Masters degrees in Secondary Education and Physics. Dr. Oramous enjoys hobbies such as embroidery, sewing, and photography in her free time. She also loves spending time with her beloved pups, Addie and Zeus. 

DREW STAPLETON

Mr. Stapleton is the head of the science department at Founders Classical Academy of Flower Mound where he currently teaches biology and life science. His background in agriculture and history education helps him bring a unique approach to teaching science. When not at school, he enjoys playing guitar, hiking, and gardening.

Lee Terrazas

After graduating from Arizona State University with a Bachelors of Science in Biochemistry, focusing in Organic Chemistry, he became, at first, a teacher of Middle School Science and later a teacher of High School Mathematics. He has been teaching at Founders Classical Academy of Lewisville since 2015 and was elected Teacher of the Year in 2025 for his work with the mathematics department. He is a member of Texas Instruments Teacher Leader Cadre (Summer 2023) and is considering pursuing a Master of Arts of Liberal Arts from St. John's College, focusing on Mathematics and Natural Sciences. But as a father of five, he pursues his education independently by reading the great works in Natural History.
